Building Strong Families Forum

On Thursday March 6, 2014, Telem was proud to participate in New York County District Attorney’s 2nd Annual “Building Strong Families: Forging Pathways to a Stronger African Community” Forum in Harlem. Listen to Fatumata, Telem’s Youth Ambassador recite “Thank You My Africa” by Julius Adolf. See us at work!

On November 24, 2013, a motivated group of tweens and teens volunteered at a residential day care program, led arts and crafts activities, played card games and taught dances to children ages 5 – 16. Another group visited Covenant House, where they helped to sort and organize clothing donations. See our participants!

Family Day

Family Day is a day for family old and new to come together. On August 17th, 2013, ninety-five Telem parents, campers, counselors, workshop leaders and supporters gathered to celebrate another successful camp and share in a delicious international potluck of foods, enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts and were treated to a premiere viewing of the Telem Camp slide show. Our thanks to Surrey Co-Op board for the lovely venue and to all who donated food and drinks, and volunteered at the event. See what happened!

International Day of the African Child Picnic

Telem celebrates African children every day! But on June 16th, a day set aside to honor the African children in Soweto, South Africa who fought for their right to a better education, Telem hosted a potluck picnic at Claremont Park in the Bronx to celebrate African children growing up in the Diaspora. See what happened!
